This year's theme
Vandanam - The prayers of the Bhagavata
Vandanaṁ, one of the nine items in the execution of devotional service,
is a process of offering prayers. Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, the book Bhāgavata,
is full of prayers offered to Lord Sri Krsna by the great devotees,
the Bhāgavata personalities.
Prayers in the Bhāgavatam are recited by children, animals, kings, women,
men and even demigods. Śikṣāṣṭakam prayer is written by the Lord himself.
Many contemporary devotees of Lord Caitanya and his followers
engaged in writing prayers.
We offer prayers to our spiritual master, to the great devotees and
to Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. We glorify them and we pray to receive their shelter
and spiritual blessings. This year, during our festival week,
we will explore this process of vandanaṁ. Please join us.
“O Lord of Madhu, as the Ganges forever flows to the sea without hindrance,
let my attraction be constantly drawn unto You
without being diverted to anyone else.”
Prayers of Queen Kunti, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, 1.8.42
